Theme: I Believe in Sanctification

Prepared

Read 1 Peter 1:13–21

Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Peter 1:13).

Peter wrote those words hoping his readers would take heed and follow the advice. For Peter—a man of mistakes and uncertainty—preparing minds for actions, being self-controlled, and setting hope on a Christ-based future was the only way to live this life on earth.

Peter’s life was filled with surprises and mystery. As one of Christ’s closest friends, Peter struggled to grasp the stories Jesus told. As a man of courage and promises, Peter refused to admit himself as a follower of Christ. Yet before it was too late, Peter accepted Christ’s invitation to pursue life’s true purpose. He agreed to follow. He agreed to lead. And his life opened doors for many more to pursue lives of sanctification.

Peter believed it was possible and necessary in his days. Do we believe it is possible and necessary in these days? If so, God can help us be prepared for eternity by living a Christ-centered life in the now.

Prayer Suggestion: Help me to be holy in all I do.
