In His Dwelling Place

Read Psalms 87:1 through 92:15

There are several beloved passages in these psalms. It has been said that Psalm 91 has been quoted or read by more people in trouble than any other Old Testament passage. Indeed, that promise of shelter, help, and refuge may be without equal.

Yet, there is a greater theme in these sacred poems and songs. It is the elevated position of God’s living quarters set on the holy mountain (Psalm 87:1) and God’s desire for us to dwell with Him. Psalm 89:2 tells us that God’s love and faithfulness is established in heaven itself.

After the psalms affirm our Lord’s high place, then they issue the invitation for us to be included!

Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations (Psalm 90:1).

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1).

Then comes the promise of living in His dwelling place.

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon (Psalm 92:12).

Prayer for Today: Oh, Lord, I want to live in Your dwelling place, safe from harm, producing the fruit of Your plan.

Quicklook: Psalm 91:1–16
